Action Alert! Environmental Quality Commission hosting discussion on lower Deschutes

Action Alert! On April 6 from roughly 2:10p to 3:40p, Oregon’s Environmental Quality Commission (EQC) will hold a hearing on the state of the lower Deschutes River. The agenda and details for this discussion are still being finalized, and we will be sure to share that with you all once it is released.

This discussion is the result of DRA’s ongoing water quality advocacy with the State of Oregon. The EQC ordered the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to prepare this hearing after our October 2021 special meeting to address the LDR’s dissolved oxygen levels and redband trout.

In addition to the Deschutes River Alliance, DEQ also invited the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Portland General Electric, and the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation to give an update on the river and share their perspectives.

We need your support! If you are interested in giving a public comment before the Environmental Quality Commission, please reach out to either Sarah Cloud or Ben Kirsch. Thank you for your ongoing support!
